The 2027 Genesis G70 is entering a new chapter, and potentially its final one. According to government documents, Genesis is set to discontinue the G70’s powerful twin-turbocharged 3.3-liter V-6, leaving the turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder as the only available engine.
The change is significant for fans of the compact luxury sports sedan. The outgoing 3.3T V-6 produces 365 horsepower, while the 2.5T delivers 300 horsepower. In previous testing, the V-6-powered G70 accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds, compared with 5.9 seconds for the 2.5T.
Both the 2.5T and 3.3T have been available with rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, giving buyers plenty of flexibility. However, NHTSA VIN submissions and EPA fuel-economy ratings for the 2027 Genesis G70 reportedly list only the 2.5-liter turbocharged engine.
Genesis has not yet officially confirmed the V-6’s removal, saying that complete information about the 2027 model year will be announced soon. There are also continuing rumors that 2027 could be the final model year for the Genesis G70 sedan.
