Toyota has introduced a refreshed 2027 Toyota Crown, bringing subtle design tweaks, an updated hybrid system, and additional premium features to its flagship crossover-inspired sedan. While the overall appearance remains familiar, the latest Crown focuses on improving efficiency, comfort, and technology rather than reinventing the model.
The most significant change is found beneath the bodywork. Toyota has equipped the XLE, Limited, and Nightshade trims with its new Toyota Hybrid System 5 (THS 5). The powertrain continues to pair a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with three electric motors and all-wheel drive, delivering an estimated combined fuel economy of 40 mpg. Toyota has not yet disclosed the updated power output figures.
The performance-focused Platinum trim continues with the Hybrid Max powertrain producing an impressive 340 horsepower and 400 lb-ft (542 Nm) of torque. It also receives new red brake calipers, black window trim, and a more elegant two-tone exterior finish with the trunk painted in body color.
Inside, Toyota expands customization by introducing a new Saddle Tan interior for Limited and Platinum models. Paddle shifters are now available on the XLE, Limited, and Nightshade versions, giving drivers greater control and a sportier driving experience.
Pricing has increased slightly across the lineup, with the base XLE starting at $42,755, while the flagship Platinum reaches $56,485. Toyota has not yet announced when the updated Crown will arrive at dealerships.
