Nissan is bringing its latest e-Power hybrid technology to the United States with the new 2027 Nissan Rogue Hybrid. The compact SUV combines electric all-wheel drive, a turbocharged gasoline engine and a battery-focused hybrid system designed to deliver the driving feel of an EV without requiring the engine to directly power the wheels.

The heart of the new Rogue Hybrid is Nissan's e-Power series-hybrid system. A turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine is used primarily to recharge the battery, while two electric motors—one on each axle—drive the wheels. The system produces a combined 225 horsepower and gives the Rogue standard all-wheel drive.

Nissan estimates fuel economy at 40 mpg in the city, 36 mpg on the highway and 38 mpg combined. The company says the new generation of e-Power has been specifically tuned for the North American market.

Electric Driving Feel Without Plugging In

Unlike a conventional hybrid, the gasoline engine in the Rogue Hybrid does not directly drive the wheels. The electric motors provide propulsion, while the engine generates electricity for the battery. When the battery has sufficient charge, the gasoline engine can shut off completely.

The Rogue Hybrid also introduces Nissan's updated e-Pedal regenerative braking system, allowing drivers to use one-pedal driving. A new Smooth Stop function automatically manages brake pressure to make stopping smoother and reduce head movement.

More Technology Inside

The 2027 Nissan Rogue Hybrid receives a redesigned dashboard and upgraded infotainment technology. The entry-level version comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Higher trims equipped with the Technology package receive a larger 14.3-inch display running a Google-based operating system with Google Maps, Gemini AI and access to the Play Store. The Platinum trim also adds a 10-speaker Bose audio system.

Every Rogue Hybrid gets a new 15-watt Qi2 magnetic wireless charger, while the Platinum offers two wireless charging pads.

Updated Driver Assistance

Nissan has also upgraded its ProPilot Assist system. The technology now uses a new front radar sensor, a wider-view front camera and updated software. Nissan says the system is designed to improve lane centering and cornering performance at higher speeds.

Additional features include automatic lane changes and Hands-off Traffic Jam Support, which can temporarily allow the driver to remove their hands from the steering wheel during low-speed traffic on divided highways when ProPilot Assist is active.

Practical Compact SUV

The new Rogue Hybrid is designed to remain practical for everyday driving and family trips. Nissan says the rear doors can open to almost 90 degrees, making it easier to access the rear seats. There are also five LATCH anchors in the rear, allowing greater flexibility when installing child seats.

Cargo capacity is rated at 31 cubic feet with the second row in place and up to 66 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. Nissan also says the Rogue Hybrid can tow up to 1,500 pounds.

The 2027 Nissan Rogue Hybrid will initially arrive in the SR trim with the $4,000 SR Technology package, bringing the starting price to $43,065. The wider lineup will later include the SV starting at $37,065, the SV Premium with an additional $3,100 package, the SR at $39,065 and the Platinum at $45,065.
