2028 Jaguar Type 01: Jaguar's 1015-HP Electric Flagship Is Finally Here

Jaguar is entering a completely new era with the 2028 Jaguar Type 01, an all-electric luxury grand tourer that combines an extremely bold design with serious performance. The new model is positioned as the centerpiece of Jaguar's transformation into a modern luxury electric brand.

The Type 01 stays remarkably close to the dramatic concept that previewed Jaguar's new design direction. Its long hood, wide body, unusual proportions and hidden rear lighting give the electric sedan a presence unlike almost anything else on the road.

1015 Horsepower and Three Electric Motors

Under the dramatic bodywork, the Jaguar Type 01 uses a three-motor electric powertrain producing up to 1015 horsepower and 1007 lb-ft of torque. Jaguar says the car can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 3.1 seconds, making this luxury EV one of the most powerful road-going Jaguars ever created.

Up to 400 Miles of Electric Range

The Type 01 is built around a 118-kWh battery and an 850-volt electrical architecture. Jaguar estimates an EPA range of up to 400 miles, while sustained highway driving at 75 mph is expected to deliver around 320 miles of range.

Fast charging is another major part of the package. With a suitable 350-kW DC charger, Jaguar says the Type 01 can add up to 200 miles of driving range in approximately 13 minutes.

A Radical Interior

Inside, Jaguar has abandoned traditional luxury-car design in favor of a minimalist, technology-focused cabin. A central spine runs through the interior, separating the occupants and creating individual spaces for the four seats.

The dashboard features a huge 24-inch OLED driver display, while additional screens handle climate and other vehicle functions. Brass-inspired elements, textile surfaces and a large glass roof add to the futuristic atmosphere.

Technology Meets Luxury

The Jaguar Type 01 uses a modern Nvidia-based electronic architecture designed to support over-the-air software updates and advanced vehicle functions. All-wheel steering, adaptive dampers and a 50:50 weight distribution are also part of the car's engineering package.

Jaguar's Most Ambitious Electric Car

The Type 01 is more than another electric vehicle. It represents Jaguar's attempt to reposition itself in the high-end luxury market, competing with premium electric grand tourers from brands such as Porsche and Mercedes-Benz.

Production is expected to begin in 2027, with deliveries following around the middle of the year. Pricing is expected to start in the six-figure range, making the Type 01 a highly exclusive electric luxury car.
